Born in Ireland in 1968, attended UCD, moved to Groningen, Netherlands in 1994, returned to Ireland in 2000, attended LSAD (now TUS) between 2001-2004.
Statement
I like sketching and photographing random indivduals and groups, or places, because I know there are stories in there. Later, play with the composition to create something new. I'm usually reminded of a story or a song or something else as I work out my piece.
Biography
Having initially grown up in a farmhouse in County Tipperary, Ireland in a family that prized reading, literature, theatre and song, Orla initially studied German and French at UCD in the Faculty of Arts. In 1993 she met Dolf Patijn, a native of Groningen, the Netherlands, and between 1994 and 2000 lived in Groningen. After returning to Ireland, in 2001 she went to Limerick School of Art and Design and studied Fine Art Painting, graduating in 2004. Orla and Dolf have continuted to live in County Limerick to date.
